Jake had his third basketball game today and he continues to amaze me. Every year he joins basketball or baseball there is significant improvement from the following year. You might say that it is supposed to be that way for a kid but that is not always the case. Maybe I am just biased, but his game just goes up so many levels each year. It brings me so much enjoyment (along with the rest of my family I’m sure) to watch him have so much fun playing sports.
Turkey Day 2010
Well, here we are again. Thanksgiving 2010 is tomorrow and I’m so pumped. It’s always nice to just get away from the usual daily grind of work. Work can be very taxing on a person’s soul. It consumes us sometimes. It’s not fair actually. Spending time with my family is so important in my life. There is nothing like it.
Update picture from Thanksgiving Table –
Red October is upon us
It has been truly amazing to watch this Phillies team propel themselves into the Post Season the past 4 years. I feel privileged to watch and admire this team in what is probably the best Phillies era ever. One day I’m sure we will all look back and not only be in awe of what they accomplished, but also be able to say, “Yeah, all those guys were on the same team. Howard, Utley, Halladay, Hamels, Oswalt, Werth, Victorino, Lidge, Rollins……….The Philadelphia Phillies.” I am set for another World Series and this time I will be damned if I miss the parade!!
11 Years of Marital Bliss
Celebrated 11 years married to my amazing wife last weekend. September 25, 2010 marked 11 years of spending our lives together so far. We traveled to Lake Wallenpaupack in the Poconos and stayed at Lakeside Cottages. Carolee was able to barter her photography services for yet another vacation home. She takes great pictures, and who knows maybe someday we’ll be traveling the world staying at places in exchange for her photography! We went to a really cool wine and cheese festival at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and actually ended up buying what I consider one of the best bottles of local wine I ever tasted. The vineyard was Sorrenti Cherry Valley Vineyard and the wine was Chambourcin. Sunday we had brunch at Torte Knox where the chef actually cooks your meal right in front of you. That was really cool. The fishing really blew but apparently it is very hard to fish Lake Wallenpaupack this time of year (at least that’s the story I’m sticking with). Jazz (our dog) got to go with us and I think she enjoyed herself too (at least judging by the picture here). Jake stayed with Nannie for the weekend and he had a great time. What a great trip……..Happy 11 years sweetheart! I look forward to the next 100…….
Father and Son Time
It occurred to me the other night while enjoying the Phillies game with Jake, that I should be documenting my experience on God’s green earth. Apparently, we only do this thing called life once. I am committing myself to writing about my existence for future generations to read. I have always been a huge history buff when it comes to my family, always asking my grandparents about their grandparents and what not. Here on my blog, I can leave a detailed record of the life and times of Ken Oberholtzer the father, husband, video producer, Realtor, drummer, Philly sports fanatic, and plain old average American. I am excited to start, and I look forward to the day that I look back and read some of my posts from years back and go, “Yeah, that was my life!”
